Monday June 17, 2013 My first week in Germany

Hallo meine Familie!
Germany is so sick! I dont even know where to begin! I´ll just start at the beginning and walk you through the last week or so.
After we landed we were imediately met by President Kosak, his wife, and the APs. They were all incredibly nice and spoke English which was really helpfull:) We exchanged our money and got on a big bus which took us to the chapel there in Berlin. I wish I would have taken a picture of it because it was pretty cool. Really small, like 5 rows. All of the classroms are about the size of the bishops office in daybreak but they´re not really classrooms. They only have specific rooms for relief society, preisthood, young women, and primary and like I said the rooms are all about the size of the bishops office in your ward. It´s so wierd:) we had to sign a bunch of papers and talk about some stuff and then we imediately went finding. I got to pair up with on of the AP´s. His name was Elder Hansen. We was really cool. we basically just walked around the strreet and talked to random people and tried to set appointments, give out book of mormons and what not. It was reaally scary haha but it was pretty cool too. After that we went back to the Chapel and had dinner and then they took us to a hotel for our first night. We got to sleeep in at until about 10 oclock to somewhat adjust to jetlag( it didnt work. I was still tired) and eat breakfast at the hotel which was really hard because the owner didnt speak a word of english but we used our terrible broken german and got through it;) We went to the chapel via bus again and this was when we met our companion. I don´t know if it said in the email but i´m actually in a tripanionship. I didnt find out until after that picture was taken and about an hour later Von Nieda came to the chapel. Their names are Elder Briner and Elder Von Nieda. Theyre both way nice and cool. Elder Briner is from Idaho and Von Nieda is from Montana (and hes Asian). This is both of their last transfers which means I will kill them( Mission lingo meaning i´m their last companion). I ´ll attach some pictures of them. Right after that we started our Journey to Halle. We left Berlin around 1 oclock and got too Halle at about 8 oclock that evening. The only means of public travel is pretty much trains. We took a bunch of different trains and street trams to get to Halle. Their tran sytem is really cool and sophisticated. They have all these ticket computers you go up to and put in your destination and it gives you whats called a Fahrkarte. It´s like a ticket that tells you all the stops and trains you have to ride to get to your destination. They don´t really have like a month pass for transportation so it kinda sucks cause it´s really expensive. The church refunds all our travel expenses though. Our ticket from Berlin to Halle was 56 Euro.
Our apartment is pretty cool. Very European. I have some pictures I´ll send of that too. Anyways, our fist day here we had an appointment with this way old man named Herr Reiner. (Herr means Mr) he´s been investigating the church for over a year and lets just say it´s not going anywhere fast. I also couldnt understand a word he said and thats kind of how it is for most of the time. It depends on the person but I can on avarage understand about 15-20% of what people say. Sometimes less;) We did a little bit more finding and then I actually had my first swap. Me and Elder Briner went to a small village called Groitzsch (I think thats how you spell it) and we were companions with and Elder Hays for the day. He is a really cool elder as well. In groitzsch we had 3 member appointments were we helped them with yardwork, moving stuff and other things to help with the flooding. The water isnt there still but they got hit pretty hard and now their just cleaning up. For lunch we had an eating apointment with this 90 something year old lady named Omi she was incredibly nice and just a funny old lady who liked to complain about hitler and all he did;) It was super funny.
It was pretty crayz because on our way back from groitzsch, we got a phone call from elder von nieda and elder Künzla, the elder we switched with. They told us that they got a phone call from a guy that had gotten one of our passalong cards and saw that our `'Motto'' was 'Die Familie sind ewig' which means 'The Family is Forever' and thats what he wants. Out of nowhere he even said that he was willing to give up drinking to get it. Keep in mind we haven´t told him he has to give up drinking! We´ll be following up with him soon because he has a crazy busy work schedule. In that same day we met this girl named Martina. Shes from Serbia and speaks fairly good German. We gave her a passalong card and she followed up with us and told us a story about how when she was thriteen whe had an experience where she though she saw and angel. Ever since she has bee super spiritual and prays every day but shes never found a church that can explain her vision and questions she had. Her biggest question was how did got become god. Elder Von nieda and Künzla shared with her the first lesson and shared a little about the Plan of Salvation and how through this plan we can become like him. They explained that got problz followed a similar plan to ours. They said that she got super excited and said that we were the first church to have an answer to that question and that she wanted to know more about us. They of course said we can do that and then invited her to be baptized and she accepted! We´re going to be meeting with her 3 times a week and I´ll set a baptismal date with her at our next appointment. Definitely an amazing testimony of how the Lord prepares those we will teach before we meet them!
I hope I remembered everything i wanted to tell you about. If you want to write me the best way is to email but if you send a letter for now Just send it to the mission home. If you ever send a package, always send it to the mission home.
Love you Guys!
Elder Trevor Bone
