Guten Morgan! Monday July 22, 2013

Hallo meine Familie!

I hope you all had a good week! My week had been alright. It´s funny because I´ve been thinking a lot about how most days I dread going outside and talking to people and teaching them lessons. As you all know I´m pretty much an extrovert so it´s super easy and I love it! (Ich witze nur) No in all reality I don´t like it very much. But it´s interesting because every day whether I´m miserable and tired and not very excited to go out, at the end of the day when I´m writing in my journal or just relaxing on our way cool couch, I feel good inside and I´m glad that the day is over. I can just listen to music and be satisfied with the work I´ve done that day. Anyways here are some highlights of my week.

Last Montag for the last couple of hours we went to a members house. Their names are the Riedels. They´re super nice and just an awesome family. They have three little boys that are insane! THey have so much energy and are hilarious! Their youngest is probably 3-4 and he is probably my favorite. We had dinner with them and the salad had beans in it. In German, Bohne means bean and you say it the same way as bone but with an a sound at the end. Jakob, the youngest doesn´t like beans and so he kept asking his dad to take them out of his salad. Then he asked my what my name was and I told him ''Elder Bone''. He  instantly stated laughing and then said really loud and slowly ''Elder Bone''. Then he kept pointing at the beans and saying my name over and over laughing so hard that he almost fell out of his seat. We were all laughing and it was pretty funny. We also played volleyball with them in their backyard.

On Wednesday we had District Meeting and we finally got to have luch together as a District. We went to an Asian Buffet, if you could call it that. The food was alright but there were only about 12 different options. I also accidentlally got carbonated water (which is just straight up terrible) and ended up paying €2,90 for it, which is a lot. It was alright in the end though and it was a nice meal.

Thursday we had a little change up. Wednesday night we had to pick up an Elder form our trainstation because his companion had to go to a training in Berlin. He got to stay the night with us in Halle and then most of the day Thursday. His name was Elder Beckstead and he looks exactly like Hayden Christiansen, the actor that plays Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars. He was a way chill guy and really fun to work with. I don´t have a picture of his face unfortunately but I did get a picture of his back when he lit the bottom of his pants on fire for his 1 1/2 year mark. I´ll attach that picture. Oh and don´t worry we had a bucket of water standing by if things started to get crazy,) He got to come with us to teach the really old guy out in the boonies. Lorthär is his name. It was an alright lesson. He is really open and loves Jesus but thinks that every church that teaches about Jesus is true. Except for Jehovahs Witnesses and the Catholics. For whatever reason he doesn´t like them. It´s kinda funny:)

Friday was transfer calls but really wasn´t that big of a deal. Both me and Elder Briner are staying here in Halle. Oh I don´t know if I´ve told you but Elder Briner is really old as a missionary. This is his last transfer which means that I will ''kill'' him. So these are his last 6 weeks in Germany. It´s really wierd to think that in 7 weeks he´ll be home living a normal life and I´ll be here living the life he had. He´s pretty upset and doesn´t want to go haha. He´s a good guy.

Well today for P-Day we are going to Leipzig with the rest of our District. It should be fun! I´ve already been to Liepzig a couple times but this is my first time just going to sightsee and relax. That brings me to my other point. At Zone Training they told us about the new Elder Dress and Grooming standards. From now on for Missionaries coming into the field backpacks are no longer allowed. Because I´m here already im okay but all new elders coming in have to have side/messenger bags. They told us that if we have the money to  buy a bag we should. THey also said that if we do we can continue to use both the side and backpack . I know that I´ve already spent a lot of money here but I kind of wanted to get a side bag at some point too and I want to look the part of a proper European Missionary,) So I hope it´s alright if I take out another €100 Euro today. I don´t anticipate the bag to cost that much but I also want to get one that will last. Once again, sorry that I´m spending all your money:)

One last thing:) They told us that we should be getting IPads in the next few transfers. One thing that is really helping me stay positive and happy is the music here. Much to my surprise, President Kosak pretty much approves all music as long as it´s lyrics don´t contradict church teachings and it has to be somewhat appropriate. It pretty much just can´t swear/have inappropriate lyrics and it can´t be screamo. We already listen to a ton of disney music and other ''worldy'' music if you will usaully on CDs. Music much like on my Ipod back home. One Elder actually already has an Ipod touch and since were getting Ipads soon everyone told me that I should just get my Ipod from home. So my request/idea is that if you send me a birthday package, could you include my Ipod in the package? Don´t worry about taking anything off of it. I can do that if I need to/ just not listen to it. I would really appreciate it!

Ich liebe Sie! Sie sind am Besten! Thanks for all the prayers and everything else your doing! Ich wunsche Ihnen einen schönen woche!
