Oh man...it is hard to describe what it is like to be coming to the end. It's a strange feeling because I feel less trunky right now than I did a couple of weeks ago. For the last week it has just been sinking in that this is my last transfer. It just seems like everyday there is something that points to or reminds me that I am a "dead man walking". That is what Elder Aust called me because I was extended. Two of the missionaries from my group, Elders Brower and Karlen went home this week because of school and work. It is just a scary feeling. Kind of like how it felt getting ready to go. It just...doesn't seem real, but it's getting there;)
My new companion, Elder Cullen Westbury is pretty legit. This is his fourth transfer and he is from Virginia. He is 18 years old which means he was born in 1996! That just seems so crazy!!! Haha one more reminder that I am going home soon... I included a picture of him.
Well this week was really good. On Tuesday last week I dropped off Elder Aust and then had to wait an hour before Elder Westbury arrived. We came back for an appointment with a lady named Julia. She had called us a few days before and said that she was an investigator a while ago and wanted to meet with us. I called her from the Train station to make sure that she could still come to our appointment. She wanted to move the appointment to the next day and so we did. Unfortunately she still didn't show up:( We had our last appointment with Liga before she went back to Latvia. She had brought her friend with who had a lot of questions about God. We taught the second lesson and answered all his questions. In the end he told us that he just couldn't believe in God because "Science just makes so much more sense." He did however say that he respected our church and beliefs greatly and considered me to be a "great opponent" and that I knew what I was talking about. It was a good lesson even though he doesn't want to meet with us. He lives in Elmshorn anyways but told us that he had already looked up the address for the church there.
On Wednesday we went to our appointment with Julia (which fell out) and then served at the Tafel. The Tafel is a great activity and we have a lot of great interaction with a lot of people. A few times while I have been here we have been stopped by people on the street who saw us at the tafel. They just really love us there, the ladies that work there and the people who come. We didn't end up going to institute because Tanita wouldn't respond to our calls or texts. She still hasn't responded so we are thinking that she may have had a little more interest in Elder Aust than the Gospel. She was found by him when he talked to her on a bus.
Thursday we did some finding in a city part called Klein Borstel. We talked to a bunch of people and had a really good conversation with this young guy named John. We talked with him for about 10 minutes but in the end he still said he had no interest. It is so frustrated when you talk to someone for so long only to have them so no and act like they never even listened to anything you said. He was a cool guy and nice but just said that he can't believe that there is only one church that is true.
For the rest of the week we did finding in the Alstertal, Niendorf and in Poppenbüttel. We also went by on contacts in those areas but almost none of them were home.
On Sunday Elder Roggow (now Manu) gave his homecoming talk. President Kosak also came to our ward for church because Manu invited him. President and Sister Koasak gave good talks and so did Manu. It was interesting because I had to translate all of them into English for a member we have who can only speak english. I did a pretty good job if I don't say so myself. haha nah it's an interesting process to translate and I can honestly say that I have felt the help of God when trying to translate. Your brain just kinda disconnects and it's almost like your brain is running on two tracks with one track hearing what they say and the other is speaking the words that just seem to pop into your head. There was a weird point yesterday while sister Kosak was speaking where I was about 10 seconds behind with my translation but I just somehow knew what she was saying and the words where just...there. It was cool but definitely a testimony strengthener that God can step in and help us when our own strength is not enough.
Well that was pretty much the week with it's ups and downs. Well, I don't know if I told you the downs;) I talked to President yesterday and asked if I can go to Berlin with Elder Larsen (he is in my district and we will be going home together) for my last P-Day. He said that we could so that will be pretty cool. Instead of going to Berlin on Tuesday(Transfer Day) we will go together on Sunday night and then we can spend our last day in Berlin. It will be cool.
I am listening to the Sunday afternoon session of conference right now...WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME PRESIDENT UCHTDORF SPOKE IN GERMAN!!! We are listening to an mp3 of it while we type emails and I didn't even notice that he was speaking German until he stopped and apologized!
I hope that you have a great week! I love you all! May the Force be with you.
