Moin Familie!
I hope you all had a great week! I had a pretty solid week and can't complain. We had some pretty cool experiences and I guess you could call them miracles.
Last Monday we did a little R&R and then had family home evening at the Wittkops.
On Tuesday we met with an investigator named Lingpeng, from China. He is pretty funny. Super quiet and has just a funny demeanor. After the lesson we met up with the District Leader for an exchange. I went to Wartenau area, which is just the downtown area. We had three appointments set up but they all fell out.
On Wednesday in Wartenau we had another lesson with a man named Frank fall out so we went to this other part of the city and met with a guy named Mitja. It was the first lesson with him as well. Overall he just has a sad situation. Both of his parents are dead and he has a cancerous brain tumor that he's been struggling with for a little while now and he's not even 30 yet. He just works and then stays home by himself all day. We taught him about the Plan of Salvation and he was really excited. He had to go to Berlin the next day for at least two weeks to take are of the tumor so we gave him a Book of Mormon and taught him how to pray. He was really grateful and liked everything we taught. At the end we asked it we could do anything for him and he said "no, I just hope that we will see each other again so I can learn more." You just felt sad for him because the could see the loneliness and sadness in his eyes. After that we switched back and then me and Elder Aust went to Institute with Lingpeng. It was hilarious because he is super shy and barely says anything but at the end of the class he was talking with everyone and having a great time. We had to leave to get home on time and asked him if he knew how to get back to the subway. He said no and so then we asked him if he would come with us and then we could show him. He told us no again an said that he wanted to stay, so we left! haha he was so funny.
Later in the week we had one of our surprises. We got a referral from the church from someone who had referred themselves online, my first one of my mission! What is even more crazy is that the street was a street that members had picked out a couple of months ago for a street we could do finding on. We had just finished dooring the street a couple weeks ago but didn't really find any new people. But then we got this referral from the church and so we got excited that maybe someone got one of our cards and has interest. Well it wasn't but it was a girl from Latvia who was meeting with missionaries in Latvia but would be here in Germany for a couple weeks and wanted to meet with missionaries while she was here. She is 19 and her name is Liga. She is so awesome but unfortunately she is going back on April 8th so there isn't much we can do but it was cool to meet someone who loves the gospel and wants to be baptized haha;)
The last miracle was that we got back in contact with Rui, our Chinese investigator lady. I will copy and paste the phone conversation that Elder Aust had with her. He typed this up and sent it to me.
Me: "Hello, Ray?"
Ray: *heavy breathing* "Yea, hello!"
Me: "Ray, what are you doing?"
Ray: *More heavy breathing* "I am climbing a mountain!"
Me: "What?! Where are you?"
Ray: *heavy breathing continues* "I am almost to the Bungalow!"
Me: "No, what country are you in?"
Ray: " I am in the Alps, on the border of Germany and Austria!"
Me: "What? Where have you been Ray?"
Ray: " I was depressed for a little bit, so I have been trying to clear my head"
Me: "... Okay..."
Ray: " I will be back in Hamburg on Wednesday, we will meet and talk then, but now I must climb this mountain"
It was pretty confusing but funny and she will be back this week!
Well I'm pretty sure that was everything. I hope you all have a great week. I love you!
P.S. The Picture is Elder Aust by this funny looking wooden cow we found:)
