This last week was kinda slow and not too much new stuff happened. I got to Tausch in Groitzsch again on Wednesday, with Elder Hays this time. Groitzsch is a cool little town with a really good Branch. It´s hard because their branch is almost stronger than our ward here in Halle. They have a really good GML(Ward Misson Leader) named Enrico. He´s just really enthusiastic about missionary work and loves helping the missionaries out. It´s hard because our ward doesn´t have a GML and our Bishop hasn´t quite called one yet and we´re not sure when he will. I´m not sure if I´ve already told you about Omi before but there is this 90 something year old lady in Groitzsch named Omi. SHe´s really funny and invites the missionaries over all the time. She has this huge garden in her backyard that she still works in! She´s so awsome! The missionaries eat Abendbrot with her at least once a week. Abendbrot is basically dinner. Here in Germany the biggest meal of the day is Lunch and so everyone always goes home for luch and then in the evening around dinner time they have Abendbrot. Abend means Evening and brot means Bread so it´s literally Evening Bread:) It´s usually bread with meat and cheese. Sometimes they have Wurstchen which are basically hot dogs but they taste more like a Bratwurst but usaully it´s just a simple meal.
On Thursday we tried to celebrate the 4th of July the best way we could so we went to Burger King! McDonalds and Burger King are really the only two American Resturants here. No wait they have a Subway. Subway is awesome because it´s like the only place with free refills that we know of. Drinks are crazy expensive! It´s normally about €2.45 for a large drink at a resturant and nobody gives free refills (minus Subway). You want more, you get to buy a whole nother drink. Burger King is the cheapest of all of them though. Thats one thing about Germany. Food is so expensive! For a combo meal it´s usually about €6.99-8.99 which is like $9-10. It kinda sucks but the trade off is clothes here are alot cheaper than in America.
Friday was fun though. We went by a bunch of contacts, which are simply people that have had contact with the missionaries before but are not currently meeting with missionaries. So far we haven´t had a lot of success because most of the ones we´ve gone by don´t live there anymore. That night we had Abendbrot with a Lady named Corolla. She´s blind! She´s really nice and has a guide dog named Jerry. Saturday was fun too because it was our ward SommerFest. Basically the ward summer party. I took some pictures that I will attach. It was pretty fun. Yesterday was my first Fast and Testimony meeting in Germany and it was soo cool. I didn´t bear my testimony but a ton of the ward did. We also have a bunch of Africans in our ward that only speak English. Ok well they speak African English:) They just talk and pray so uniquely and it´s awesome!
Well I think thats all. Ich Liebe Sie!
