Moin Diggers! July 7, 2014

Hello everyone!

I hope that you all had a good week and 4th of July and from your emails it sounds like you did. For the 4th of July here we went as a Zone to the burger place in Hannover, Jim Blocs, on Wednesday after our Zone Training Meeting. It is funny because there is only one person in our entire zone who is not American. He is Elder Pinyon from Australia. The whole time we kept making jokes about  how cool America is and how its too bad that he isn't American.

On Tuesday we helped a Lady named Frau Akah. We helped her the previous week as well but this week we helped her clean out her cellar. German cellars are absolutely ridiculous. The best description I can think of is they look like the old tunnels and rooms from National Treasure. Just spiders and spider webs on everything and it looks like they were made during the late middle ages. They are normally packed to the ceiling with mostly just garbage and junk. I will have to take a picture some time because I forgot to take one of this one. After we helped her she surprised us by not only expressing her desire to come to church but also with a desire to join the church and raise her children in the right way. We were pretty stoked and gave her all the info for the church. We felt impressed to tell her about the sister missionaries and that they could come and teach her and help her join the church. She was so excited and happy that they could come and visit her because she needed some friends right now. It is also hard for us to teach her because she lives slightly far away so it is hard to get a joint teach but we aren't allowed to meet with her alone.  I am excited to see how it all turns out but we feel really good about giving her to the sisters.

We also got a new investigator through the members this week. A girl named Isabel brought one of her friends with her to the English Class we teach and then he came to Ping Pong and church as well. He is an African named Antonio and he speaks French and fairly decent German. He expressed to us that he wants to learn more about God. We have his number and are trying to set up an appointment but he is super busy. He is really cool though and really liked church. He was really impressed that we get our own, individual sacrament cups and said that it was a brilliant idea haha.

Stavros is also back on baptismal date! He will be baptized on Saturday the 19th of July. We had a long talk with him and confronted him on smoking and he confessed to us. It was kind of funny because at first he denied it but then we told him that we saw him after our lesson. Then he freaked out and was like" Oh man! I knew it! I thought that you saw me but I wasn't sure." We told him that we need to be able to trust him and that there needs to be an honesty between us. He was very sincere and told us about his week. He explained that his life is very stressful right now with school and work and he just found out that he won't be receiving money for a while and he doesn't know what to do. He said that after he smoked that cig that we saw him smoking he felt so awful about it. He said it hit him so much and he felt so bad that he has been trying super hard and praying all week to be able to stop and hasn't smoked since then. We felt very good about it and he said that he wants to be baptized so we discussed it and set it for the 19th. Since then we have met with him again and he is doing awesome. He is receptive to the Spirit and said that he feels a good warm feeling about it and knows that it is right.

Well that was pretty much my week. Nothing has happened with my hand but I should hear back from the Surgeon today so I should have more news next week. I don't have a ton of time to send long personal emails but I will do my best:) Love you all! Have a great week!
